The MycOasis is the RMC’s central art installation and a sanctuary space designed for connection and contemplation on the value of fungi in our lives and lands. Join us for the opening of this special space and to learn how to get the most out of the MycOasis during your time as the RMC.

One of the most hilarious and off-the-wall events of the RMC is the MycOlympics: a team-based series of challenges pushing your love for fungi to the limits! For 2026, we're cranking up the dial on the pressure cooker with crazier obstacles, more challenges, bigger prizes, and even greater glory for the winners! For though fungi teach us to be in good relation with our environment, sometimes a part of that relationship is competing for resources (it can be a fungus-eat-fungus world out there).

In this embodied expression of that lesson, teams of 3–7 mycofolk compete against each other through a series of challenges. To join, come to the RMC with a crew (or ready to find one), a name for your team, and good stamina.

New to the RMC community and want to meet new friends, or maybe even a romantic interest? Join us for a series of ice breaker games and break-out conversation groups aimed to help you find allies, future collaborators, and potentially more.

Not interested in romance? No worries! MycoMingle is for everyone, regardless of the connections you wish to make. MycoMinglers will get colored wristbands that designate their hopes for connection, and the activities and games of the meetup will start a range of conversations that you can choose to carry on throughout the weekend.

Can't make it to the RMC this early? No worries here either! The colored wristbands will be available at the Hyphal Tip all weekend for folks arriving late.

The MyCostume Competition encourages our rowdy crowd of mycofolk to strut their best fungi attire for a chance to win prizes – with the best costume scoring two passes to the next RMC! To take part, simply bring your best getup to the get down, where the top three most creative outfits with be chosen based on the audience's vote.

Join us for this special moment in the weekend to set intentions and learn how to embody the ideas behind ths year's theme. Several group experiences will be facilitated by RMC teachers and team members to connect and enliven the RMC mycofolk community.

In the spirit of the nutrient exchanges that occur between plants and fungi, the RMC Barter Faire is a space of free exchange for mycofolk to gift, showcase, or barter their fungi-inspired goods. A complement to the Mycelial Marketplace of vendors and non-profits, which runs throughout the Convergence, the RMC Barter Faire runs during Saturday’s lunch time in Brown Bottle Farm’s central yard, the MyCommons. To take part, bring a blanket and other display items to showcase your offerings.

Join this beloved RMC tradition to witness and share (fungi-related or not) talents with the RMC community. Performers even have the opportunity to win prizes (including a full pass the next RMC!) if their act is themed after fungi or, better yet, this year's featured genus, Pleurotus.

Fungi- or Pleurotus-themed acts can be up to 6 minutes long, while all other acts can be up to 4 minutes long. All styles of performances are welcome, though in the event of an abundance of offerings preference will be given to fungi-focused acts.

Join this curated event to exchange spores prints, spore syringes, and agar- or liquid-based cultures with fellow cultivators. All are welcomed to join the Exchange, the only caveat being that mycelial cultures and spores of psilocybin-containing species are not allowed at the RMC or at Spores & Strains.

If you'd also like a shot at winning bonus prizes for your culturing efforts, bring at least three replicates of two or more fungal species or strains of a species to the Exchange. For example, you might bring three spore prints of a wild Agaricus species, and five liquid culture syringes of your favorite Maitake strain. Whatever the combination, please ensure that the culture is as clean as possible and that notes are provided for each replicate on the culture's origin and cultivation history.

Upon entering the event, Strain Meisters (a.k.a. judges) will take note of the diversity of species you've brought and give you a ticket for the Talent Show's raffle for each set of replicates. Once the Exchange begins, participants will have 15 minutes to barter their cultures with each other in whatever way they choose!

To close out the Exchange, Strain Meisters will give out rewards for A) the most sets of replicates and associated notes, and B) for the most unusual mycelium-based culture (selected at the Strain Meisters' discretion). A special Grand Prize will be awarded for the most interesting and unique culture accompanied by the most robust or unusual set of photographic, geographic, and morphological documentation.

Participating in the prize-based portion of Spores & Strains is optional.

We all have a unique story to tell of our relationship with fungi. Whether it’s the saga of an epic foray, the recounting of a first fungal a-ha, a fantasy tale crafted for children, or a lesson on mushrooms handed down from elders (to give but a few examples), the stories of the fungi of our lives is a big part of what motivates our continued pursuit in this fascinating science.
