The Radical Mycology Convergence is a biennial celebration of mushrooms and the people who love them. With a unique a blend of hands-on learning, experiential art, connection building moments, and a spirit of play, the RMC is an unforgettable gathering that enables and inspires positive change.
Over four days, the RMC hosts hundreds of diverse attendees who come to be inspired, learn practical skills, and find new ways to connect with nature. The mornings and afternoons are filled with dozens of workshops that cover topics as varied as mushroom cultivation, natural medicine making, healing disturbed habitats, contributing to citizen science, and making art with fungi.
In the evenings, music and performances provide moments of celebration. In between it all, friendly competitions and immersive spaces encourage attendees to take their love (or curiosity) for fungi to new depths.

Mycology is a fascinating science for many reasons, not the least of which is how it appeals to people from all walks of life. The RMC provides a great opportunity to connect with professional mycologists, citizen science researchers, artists and performance artists, commercial foragers and mushroom farmers, gourmet chefs, herbalists, ecological designers, and many more great strains of human!
With such an amazing cross section of culture, the team behind the RMC works to enable connection and collaboration amongst all who wish to join in the fun(gi)! Along with workshops that offer collaborative learning opportunities, the RMC is filled with games and activities that spark joy and build connections.

Advance the Mycoculture
The RMC promotes the growth of mycology – from its traditional and citizen science research base, to its intersections across the arts, history, and cultures. We see the current state of mycology as the starting place of an unexplored aspect of the human endeavor and encourage an open mind for engaging with all that mycology offers, so that it most fully flourishes. Each RMC aims to take the scope of human experiences with fungi in new directions and to greater heights.
Grow A Healthy Community
All are welcomed and invited to take part in the growth of awareness and excitement around mushroom (and all fungi). The RMC encourages this growth – whether through encouraging personal relationships with mycology, or by adding to the science's scope – throughout each moment of the gathering.
Learn From the Fungi
The RMC encourages reflecting on the unique lessons that can be discovered in the habits of fungi. Patterns of resilience, co-operation, self-reliance, stewardship, and healing are found throughout mycology, and are infused into the RMC. We encourage everyone to seek new means for mirroring these traits in their lives and in their exchanges with others and the environment.
RMC History
Founded in 2011, the RMC began as a reflection of a booklet (zine) entitled Radical Mycology, which had been written by Peter McCoy three years prior. That first gathering was initially intended to be a small event. As word spread, though, it quickly grew into a gathering of hundreds of people from around the world.
Over the following 13 years, six more RMCs were held – Washington (2012), Illinois (2014), New York (2016), and Oregon (2018, 2022, 2024) – with each incarnation bringing a new suite of teachers, attendees, and insights to the Radical Mycology movement. For 2026, we are thrilled to return to our wonderful host in Oregon, Brown Bottle Farm, to learn, celebrate, get silly, stay inspired, and (my)co-create a culture around fungi that is empowered and connected.
Tending & Supporting
Underlying the RMC is an emphasis on enhancing quality of life for people and the planet, just as the fungi do so well. We value mushrooms not for what humans can take from them, but for what we can learn from them through observation, experimentation, and artistic expression. Through the RMC’s creative experiences and hands-on workshops, we hope to uplift this so-often overlooked branch on the tree of life, and to show just how multi-faceted and incredible mushrooms are.
The RMC is a family-friendly event that welcomes all people. It is not a purely technical event – though many of the workshops are taught by experts with decades of experience. Nor is the event all arts and games – through we do our best to creatively curate the weekend .
At its core, the RMC aims to present the many influences of fungi on humans through educational, entertaining, and unforgettable moments. Our workshops cover the natural sciences, sustainable living practices, cultural histories, and practices for enhancing livelihoods and landscapes.
