Set on a 40-acre farm just 30-minutes south of Portland, the RMC creates a welcoming and family-friendly space that inspires, empowers, and changes lives by immersing attendees in the incredible world of fungi.
At the Convergence you can make and experience mushroom art, actively perform citizen science, tour a mushroom farm, learn to ferment food and grow mushrooms, and forage for wild mushrooms – all in the same day!

Fungi Art
Workshops on mushroom paper making, drawing mushrooms, natural dyeing with mushrooms and lichens, making mushroom pigments, and painting with fungal wood stains. Immerse in an international mushroom art show, mushroom films, mushroom VR, and a mushroom-centered theatrical performance.
Natural Healing
Workshops on mushroom medicine making, mushroom-inspired embodiment, mycelial mind sync, mushroom miso making, farm-fresh mushrooms at the eatery, current psilocybin and Amanita research, and growing a medicinal mushroom garden. Enjoy communal tea service, a forested harp sound bath, and connecting with amazing people!
Myco Science
Workshops on mushroom identification, fungal genetics, microscopy, mycorrhizae, soil fungi, and lichenology. Engage in the citizen science hub and learn about the weekend-long mycoblitz.
Mushroom Growing
Transform a greenhouse into a medicinal Reishi mushroom garden. Learn to grow mushrooms on logs. Help install a mushroom garden patch. Learn in workshops on mycorrhizae, bee protection, and soil health. See a commercial mushroom farm.
Nature Connections
Workshops on mushroom conservation, lichen ecology, mycorrhizal spores, soil fungi. On-site forays for fluorescent fungi, wood-staining species, lichens, and rare mushrooms. Access to a private 20-acre forest trail and enjoy being on a working mushroom farm.
Gourmet Flavor
Workshops on miso making, wild foods, and huitlacoche. A Bespoke Wild Foods Tasting Dinner. Enjoy mushroom-infused beverages. Eat farm-fresh mushrooms at the RMC eatery.

- Workshops Topics: Stop motion and timelapse photography, fungal diversity, huitlacoche history and cooking, microscope use, dyeing fabrics with lichens.
- Mushroom Garden Installation: Transforming a greenhouse into a medicinal Reishi mushroom farm.
- Daytime Special Events: A game of Capture the Conk, GongFuCha tea service, citizen science hub with demos.
- Evening Activities: Keynote address, RMC opening ceremony, a nighttime foray looking for fungi that fluoresce under UV light, a hilarious puppet show from Fooble the dragon, GongFuCha tea service, and a late night session of mushroom story telling around the fire.
FRIDAY
$45 Standard / $65 Sustainer
- Workshops Topics: Making paper with mushrooms, mushroom photography, drawing mushrooms, mushroom-inspired embodiment, making mushroom miso, lichen science, community collaboration via fungi, making mushroom-related social media content, current psilocybin research, and extracting mycorrhizal spores from the soil. A 5-part workshop series covering the citizen science skills needed to document, collect, and identify wild mushrooms genetically.
- Mushroom Garden Installation: Growing mushrooms on logs, stumps, and in wood chip or debris piles.
- Daytime Special Events: Make friends at MycoMingle, vendors in the Mycelial Marketplace, GongFuCha tea service, citizen science hub with demos.
- Evening Activities: Screening of Wrought and director Q&A, a tour of Brown Bottle Farm’s commercial mushroom growing operation, GongFuCha tea service, kava tea service, opening party for the RMC art show, mushroom VR experience, mushroom-centered theatrical performance, live music from Dumpster Joe, a late night harp sound bath in the Brown Bottle Farm forest.
SATURDAY

- Workshops Topics: A beginner’s guide to fungi, mushroom identification, growing soil fungi for the garden, wild mushrooms cooking and industry insights, mushroom medicine making, protecting honey bees with fungi, mushrooms that glow, dyeing fabrics with mushrooms, mushroom psychology, Amanita myths, panel discussion, and making soil amendments with mushroom farm wastes.
- Mushroom Garden Installation: Growing oyster mushrooms on common and experimental materials at low-cost.
- Daytime Special Events: GongFuCha tea service, kava tea service, RMC art show and silent auction, mushroom VR experience, Citizen science hub with demo, RMC barter faire, author book signing.
- Evening Activities: Mushroom culture exchange, GongFuCha tea service, RMC art show, mushroom VR experience, wild foods dinner, mushroom-themed music from Joe Mycelium, RMC talent show, mushroom costume contest, raffle drawing, music performances by Limonjaya and Pink Opaque.
SUNDAY

- Workshops Topics: Making soil amendments with microbes, community building like fungi, making soil amendments from fermented plants, panel discussion. 3-part series of foraging for wood infected by pigmented fungi, extracting their pigments from the wood, and making paints from those pigments.
- Mushroom Garden Installation: Building a large, experimental multi-species mushroom mound (known as a hugelkultur).
- Daytime Special Events: MycOlympics competition, GongFuCha tea service, RMC art show and silent auction, mushroom VR experience, citizen science hub with demos.
- Evening Activities: GongFuCha tea service, RMC art show, mushroom VR experience.

Coming Alone?
If you’re coming alone to the RMC and are hoping to meet people, several special events are offered throughout the RMC to help break the ice and build new friendships.
- Thursday, you can join a team for the game of Capture the Conk or tell a story at the Turkey Tales open mic.
- Friday, take part in the MycoMingle (which is dedicated to the friendship cause).
- Saturday, share your craft at the Barter Faire or perform your passions in the RMC Talent Show.
- Sunday, join a team to compete in the MycOlympics.
Throughout the weekend, Gong Fu Cha and Kava tea sessions offer the perfect setting to share a table with strangers and strike up conversations about the day’s workshops and events.

We think science is rad! But it can also be intimidating to newcomers. Our science hub and related events are designed to showcase the technical side of mycology by giving you opportunities to see and practice special myco skills up close.

Brown Bottle Farm
Rustic setting
Thoughtfully produced
The RMC takes place on Brown Bottle Farm. Located in the farming community of Mulino, Oregon (approximately 25 miles south of Portland), the farm hosts several buildings, a sprawling pasture (which is used for camping and parking during the RMC), and a 20-acre forest with a half-mile trail that RMC attendees are welcomed to explore. The rustic setting of the farm gives the Convergence a down-to-earth atmosphere that encourages unplugging, connecting, and being present for all of the event’s activities.
For the Convergence, the farm is transformed. The big red barn is cleared to host the RMC’s international art show. Three mushroom-themed stages are built, decorated, and powered to support presenters and performers. And several gathering spaces are created to support relaxation and making connections.
To top everything off, BBF is a small-scale commercial mushroom farm, making it the perfect setting for the RMC's fungi-filled days.
