Lyrics
antennas of mind
gold and the filigree
well its killing me till the dawn of bliss energy
Rivers of light in my body
Float like I'm Ali
liquid like Dali
I'm Feeling so godly
Over Helical star sea
Follow your heart beat
In color like star beams
we started dark street
I gotta get real bliss
My body's my spirit
I know you can feel this
I know you can feel it
You told me what God is
When I had no tricks to flip or shit to sip
God is in the helix
Can you feel it can you feel it
Boy have I been fiending for some joy (honestly I )
Burning like a Phoenix
I been Blissing leaning healing
Working I been searching For my voice
Pay us up pay me love
Rolling in slow
Over the mountain you go
Fountain of youth for your soul
Rolling in the past
roll in the past with the hoes
Chain ain't gone break in store
Sun on my blade like I'm inca
Rose on my ankle
Love at my fingers
Gun with osmosis I know
I'm jonesing for something my soul
Elixir of names glow
Reassemble a rainbow
Colored like stain glass
Scintilla in plain clothes
Body of angels
lucky my brain froze
Infinity say something we
Slip from the same mold
Insanity chain gold
Humanity flames grow
Liquid like Dali
This is my body
Liquor of godly
Ya all my sonics
On hydraulics like Impala
And ya got the model with the mana like her allah form
sautéed like some spinach
I'm a winner offing cynics
vision
Blurry blissing more ambition
Than patricians on...

Lyrics
Are you going away?
Are you moving away?
Oh.
Away. (Oh)
Now
I feel myself melting and melting away
I see the shapes slowly coming my way
My way. (Oh)
Wind is coming down
Everywhere there’s sound
Trees are moving around
Looking at the ground
“What is it?” they say
Ask if I’m okay
Yes I am okay
Move along that way
Grass is building up
Flakes that never stop
Rays land right on top
Feeling shades that drop
What is this I see?
What’s become of me?
What am I to be?
How I feel so free?
Oh (Born again)
Colors everywhere
Layers over there
Floating in the air
Forgetting what is fear
Get me out of here
Keep me in this sphere
Get me out of here
Keep me in this sphere
Losing all that I know
Missing a moment ago
Oh I’m ready to go
No I’ve lost control
What is life again?
What is death again?
What is everything?
What is anything?
Oh (Born again)

Lyrics
Reaching out from a shadowy grave
I get a message from a long-lost lover
Calling out from her piney-wood cave
I can hear her whispering under the ground
I get electric chills from the awesome sound
Mycelia
I feel ya
Mycelia
Under the earth
Sending secrets of an ancient nature
That are lost from the annals of man
Handed mysteries and a hidden history
That are older than we understand

Initially inspired by the diversity of acts showcased at each Radical Mycology Convergence’s talent show, the first volume of the Radical Mycology Mixtape grew to become a gentle snapshot of the world of mycology just before the big fungi boom. Through 29 tracks of music, field recordings, and poems the Mixtape offers a misty, meandering foray through this world – one that spirals in the undergrowth and lifts past the canopy.
The Mixtape is also a window into the early years of Radical Mycology, with each track carrying its own flavor of the DIY, lo-fi, and impassioned sentiments found at the core of the Radical Mycology community. The album begins with AGF’s Firemushroom, a rhythmic, biosonification-based pulse that speaks to the unexpected habits of wild fungi. From here, Sporecaster’s Things Are Not What They See and OMNIII’s I Bruise Blue relay encounters with psychoactive fungi – a theme touched on by several other tracks later in the album. Along the way, most recordings address lesser explored musical subjects such as the joy of foraging or of cooking mushrooms. Radical Fun Time’s Radical Mycology Time is a celebration of fungal ecology and grassroots mycoremediation, while Glitter Wizard’s Mycelia is a ripping ode to gravesite communication via mycelium. Between the lyrical tracks are mixed a variety of instrumental bridges and mood-setters that open space for the listener to reflect on what fungi sound like for them. Tying the album together, five excerpt’s from Emji Spero’s audio chapbook, almost any shit will do, are interspersed to perfectly convey the poetic parallels between fungal growth and a connected and collaborative community’s potential to reshape the world.
Through complex topics, heartfelt lyrics, and an ethos of loving something solely because of what it says to you, Radical Mycology Mixtape Volume I recounts a simpler time with fungi. A timeless album that works as a mellow backdrop on the drive to the forest, the Mixtape was the first insight into the need to support the global community of creative Radical Mycologists – one that ultimately led to the founding of Mycoculture Research, Arts, and Development.
